Lantana

Iím not sure how a film as fine as Lantana has managed to stay as far under the radar as it has, but itís so good and so under appreciated that I just want to wrap it in a warm flannel blanket and hug all the pain out of it. While it's superficially a murder-mystery, it's more about human emotion, and it does an amazing job of showing adult males with real feelings. Anthony LaPaglia and Geoffrey Rush are particularly fabulous as a detective and his suspect. At two hours, and with no shoot-ups or chase sequences, it might not be the perfect cop movie for American audiences, but it is as close to a chick-flick for men as has ever been made. And I mean that in a good way.

Lantana is not showing in any theaters in the area.
