Love & Other Drugs

By mainstream Hollywood standards, there is an awful lot of nudity in Love and Other Drugs. Jake Gyllenhaal bares his ass, and Anne Hathaway seems poised to run away with Mr. Skin’s annual Anatomy Awards, but beyond the naughty bits, there isn’t a whole lot worth paying to see here. Jamie (Gyllenhaal) is a pharmaceutical-sales rep whose career takes off with the introduction of Viagra. During a sales appointment at a doctor’s office, he meets Maggie Murdock (Hathaway), a Parkinson’s sufferer who has been on a surfeit of pills to help her cope. Love and Other Drugs flirts with several genres, apparently trying to improve its chances of becoming part of one. Here’s proof you can’t be all things to all people, even when Anne Hathaway takes off her clothes.

Love & Other Drugs is not showing in any theaters in the area.
