Making Waves

This is an excellent, tiny documentary about pirate radio, focusing mostly on Tucson’s illegal airwaves. There’s a nice dramatic thrust in this doc, provided largely by the self-destruction of KRVL, the libertarian station headed by local loonies that split in two and then disintegrated in the face of its confrontational staff. This is contrasted with the low-profile ways of Radio Limbo, arguably the best radio station ever to operate out of some dude’s garage. Must-see filmmaking for Tucsonans and those who’d like a government that supports the little guy, fair play and cool tunes.
