Man With the Screaming Brain

Bruce Campbell, beloved for his roles in Army of Darkness and Evil Dead, here returns to the writer/director/star role he first essayed to charming results in Bubba Ho Tep. This film, though, is a departure from the last one in that it sucks with the force of 10,000 black holes. Campbell plays a pharmaceutical company exec who goes to Bulgaria and blah blah blah brain transplant blah blah kill some gypsies blah blah stereotype, awful dialogue, painful acting and incompetent editing. It’s supposed to be reminiscent of ’50s B movies, and it is, in that it’s nearly unwatchable and the only reason to go see it is to have a cover story to tell your parents about what you were doing in a dark room with your significant other. If you’re alone, though, you’ll probably have a better time re-drafting your suicide note rather than watching this film.
