Mars Needs Moms 3D

It gets a little better as it goes, but Disney’s Mars Needs Moms starts off so slowly that it hardly matters. The film—another in a long line of pointless 3-D cartoons—lacks imagination and a unique animated perspective. Although one of the characters, an Earthling stranded on Mars for some 25 years, is effectively drawn, most of the others look like works in progress. That’s more than can be said of the plot: Aliens kidnap a mom from Colorado to extract her parenting skills for a new generation of Martians, and her son tags along for the ride. Ho-hum. With a price tag of more than $125 million, Disney would have been better off building a Mars rover instead.
