Meet the Parents

Wow … this is bad. I mean really bad. Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) takes his girlfriend’s parents (Robert De Niro and Blythe Danner) to meet his whacky mom and dad (Dustin Hoffman and Barbra Streisand). Dogs get flushed down toilets; an infant says “asshole” many times; and Stiller falls down a lot. What was funny the first time out becomes downright awful in this sequel, something that isn’t only devoid of laughter, but extremely uncomfortable to watch. Hoffman and Streisand try to bring some fun to the party, and they have their moments, but Stiller and De Niro seem lost. De Niro has taken to making that funny face Alec Baldwin used to sport for his SNL parodies, and let’s just say Alec Baldwin is funnier than Robert De Niro. Stiller needs to quit it with the bumbling fool routine. It was funny for four or five films, but now it’s old.
