One of those movies set in the South
(Florida, to be exact) where the protagonist
(Denzel Washington) gets into trouble,
commences massive perspiring and runs
around a lot. Washingtons local sheriff
finds himself looking very much like a
murder suspect after he is framed by a
mystery villain. Since we know that
Washingtons character is not the
murderer, the films sense of mystery
comes from finding out who set him up,
and the payoff is a dud. Washingtons
second pairing with Carl Franklin has him
doing an OK job in the central part, but its
a role that is a little beneath him. Not
atrociously bad, but nothing to get excited
about either.
