Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl

Longer than the Bible, but quite enjoyable nonetheless, this Disney film based on the famous amusement park ride is far better than anyone could’ve expected. Johnny Depp is terrific as a strange pirate seeking revenge on the evil Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) for stealing his ship, the Black Pearl. The problem is, Barbossa and his crew are cursed, and turn into rotting, walking skeletons whenever moonlight hits them. The special effects are great. Depp provides supreme comic relief, and Keira Knightly is quite hot (this has nothing to do with the quality of the film, but there you go). A sequel is already in the works, so perhaps they will expand the actual ride as well. If that’s true, I’m going. That ride rocks!
