Prom takes place before and during one of the most important times in a teenager’s life. Nova (Aimee Teegarden) is the class president, and she’s put in charge of getting everything ready for the big dance. When the building containing all of the decorations burns to the ground, she’s devastated and is forced to work with the high school hood, Jesse (Thomas McDonell). Other stories take place throughout; the movie tries to be a sort of Love Actually for teens, but it just doesn’t add up. Prom is far too forced and cutesy; this Disney film feels kind of like a High School Musical knockoff, but without all the singing.
