Rabbit Hole

When it is truly about the work (instead of a paycheck), Nicole Kidman is almost always up to snuff, and as a woman who simply can’t find a way to cope with or grieve over the loss of her son in director John Cameron Mitchell’s Rabbit Hole, she’s utterly fantastic. It would be inaccurate to call this a tearjerker, because if that were the case, all the action would lead up to the death of the son. Danny, the 4-year-old, is never seen. Instead, Rabbit Hole is about the world left behind after his death, the father (Aaron Eckhart) who can’t touch his wife months later, and the mother (Kidman) trapped in a cavernous suburban home with her son’s imprint all around her.

Rabbit Hole is not showing in any theaters in the area.
