Remember Me

Who knew it was possible to make such a cheap, shallow cash-in on a national tragedy? Remember Me stars Twilight heartthrob Robert Pattinson as rich-boy rebel Tyler, who is haunted by the suicide of his older brother. Through a twist of fate, he meets Ally (Emilie de Ravin), a girl who tries to live her life to the fullest after witnessing her mother’s murder a decade before. After an incident involving her dad, Ally moves in with Tyler, and they fall in love, but a secret Tyler has kept threatens to ruin their relationship. Despite surprisingly good performances by Pattinson and Pierce Brosnan (as Tyler’s absentee father), the movie is frustratingly dull and poorly paced. Every character is petulant and self-obsessed, and the only way filmmakers are able to garner any sympathy for these cheap caricatures is by making them victims of a real-life disaster. This gratuitous plot twist is not only distasteful, but just downright wrong.

Remember Me is not showing in any theaters in the area.
