I was actually looking forward to this film,
because the last installment in the
Resident Evil series was a
perfectly executed action movie. It worked
because there was a central mystery that
was revealed slowly over the course of
the entire film. Most action films, you see,
involve setting up a conflict, giving
everything away in the first 20 minutes,
and then having the star fight his or her
way through hordes of disposable
adversaries until he or she reaches the
goal. That, sadly, is how RE:A
works, but its not a terrible film. Milla
Jovovich is charming as the action hero
with the heart of viral mutations, and
there are lots of cool zombie-killing
sequences. Also, theres a special bonus
for RE and Jovovich fans: Whereas
the first film featured the famous Milla
crotch shot, this one has a brief glimpse
of her pectoral charms, so together, the
two films give you the complete Jovovich.
Plus, you know, splattered zombie brains
and stuff.
