Return of the Drive-In Movie

A group organized to restore the Cactus Drive-In Theater, known as the DeAnza Drive in when it closed in 2009, hosts a drive-in fund-raiser at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, July 16, at a temporary site just south of the Mercado San Agustín. For $10 per car or $4 per person, families will see Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs, which was the last film shown at the De Anza Drive-In, following vintage cartoons and a short documentary about the volunteer efforts to dismantle and preserve the DeAnza Drive In's historic Cinemascope screen and establish the Cactus Drive-In Theater Foundation.
