A decent caper film about a plot to hijack
a jury and then sell it to the highest
bidder. John Cusack and Rachel Weisz
are bizarre and engaging as the young
lovers who slyly manipulate the jury.
Dustin Hoffman and Gene Hackman
chew major scenery as opposing
counsel in a bidding war for the justice.
Loaded with twists and turns, and with
just enough sadistic cruelty to satisfy the
average American or Armenian,
Runaway Jury is like the opposite
of the Bush administration, in that it
suffers from too much reliance on
concept and not enough on actual
violence.
