Stolen Childhoods

In spite of the fact that there’s occasional voiceover narration by (shudder!) Meryl Streep, this is an effective and informative documentary about child slave labor. A good combination of facts, policies, analysis and the stories of the actual children, told in their own words, keeps this from being purely didactic or overly sentimental. An ugly subject, well-handled, and one to think about next time you buy a big cup of that Starbucks coffee that was so nicely picked for you by a brutally misused 12-year-old in Kenya.
