Stomp the Yard

Director Sylvain White uses distorted and jarring stroboscopic effects to capture unimpressive street-dancing in this paint-by-numbers bore. Guilt-ridden over the death of his brother, a defiant bad boy moves to Atlanta to live with his aunt and uncle. The ghetto-savvy fish out of water is forced to attend Truth University, where the local fraternity is immediately impressed by the freshman’s fast footwork. Predictable rivalries flare; trite lessons are learned; and bland relationships ensue, all leading up the mediocre, all-male synchronized stomping battle at the National Step Show Championship.
