There have been some bad movies so far
this year, but this one takes the proverbial
cake. The movie gets off to a good start,
with Owen Wilson hitting somebody in the
head with a baseball bat, and thats it for
intriguing moments. Wilson is a dud as
the lead in this adaptation of the Elmore
Leonard novel. Playing a small-time
crook getting involved in a big island
heist, hes phoning in his performance.
The cast includes the likes of Morgan
Freeman, Gary Sinise, Willie Nelson and
Charlie Sheen, and they all seem lost.
Sara Foster in the femme-fatale role is an
amazing-looking actress, with little or no
talent for actual acting. The film goes
nowhere fast, a surprise considering that
it is directed by George Armitage,
responsible for the very good Grosse
Pointe Blank. A monumental mess.
