The Black Balloon

This is pretty much a low-budget, well-acted, nicely shot and incredibly stupid formula film about a teenage boy (Rhys Wakefield) and the special feelings of sadness and alienation he suffers from because his brother (Luke Ford) is autistic. Then, the magical girlfriend appears (Gemma Ward) and makes his life all fairy-dust sparkles, then his brother poops on the rug and then there’s a fight and then everything’s OK. It’s OK. It’s all gonna be OK. Also starring Toni Collette and a carpet covered in human feces.

The Black Balloon is not showing in any theaters in the area.
