Rest assured the male version of Waiting
to Exhale has finally hit theaters,
thanks to novelist Gary Hardwick. His first
feeble attempt behind the camera is this
convoluted comedy about four sexy African
American men looking for love. First there is
the playboy pediatrician whose nightmares
scare him into dating a seemingly ideal woman
with an adulterous past. Then there is the
handsome, married brother with an
inadequate sex life who is burdened with
mommy issues, or maybe it is the good-looking
lawyer with jungle fever who has the mommy
issues, though it could be the engaged
executive with the chiseled chest who has the
mommy issues. The plot continues to bounce
aimlessly from one character's soap opera
life to the next, filling all ends of the
dating spectrum and trying to provide fresh
insight into the philosophies of men and
women. The only thing being provided though
is endless eye candy from the
supermodel-filled cast. Sorry, Gary, but
stick to writing novels.
