This big-screen version of a male Charmed is undisputed proof that director Renny Harlin is Hollywoods latest burnout. The recycled premise of people with special powers features four pubescent boys at a boarding school who share a sacred supernatural ancestry. The young men bide their time until their 18th birthdays, when their stock powers of flying and telekinesis kick in. Until that day, the four boys have to battle the forgotten evil fifth ancestor. Not only is writer J.S. Cardones plot moronic, but the dark cinematography suggests a production budget that could not afford adequate lighting. Avoid The Covenants misdirected and shoddy spell.
