The Green Butchers

I know what you’re thinking: Not another movie about Danish cannibals! But this one is different from Häxan and I Kina Spiser de Hunde in that it’s a rich character study of two desperate losers who band together and become even more desperate and loser-y. And then, through the miracle of modern cannibalism, they become smashing successes. Of course, dealing with the stresses of running a successful business and butchering people for meat can put a strain on any relationship, and The Green Butchers explores those stresses in a way that reflects the openness and honesty of Danish society as a whole. Finally, the film asks the tremendously human question, "Am I my brother’s eater?"
