In this unpleasant comedy, Seth Rogen plays an unsuccessful organic chemical inventor, and Barbra Streisand is his nagging, overbearing mother. Rogen, who is about to embark on a cross-country road trip to peddle his product at conventions, invites his mother along after he secretly makes a plan to hook her up with an old flame at the final destination. Together, they bicker endlessly, awkwardly listen to Middlesex on audiobook and talk about hot flashes. There’s zero chemistry between the two, and the repetitious combination of Streisand's nagging with Rogen grumbling and mumbling becomes nauseating. Colin Hanks and Adam Scott pop up in small roles and contribute absolutely nothing to the film. If you’ve ever wanted to see Babs enter a steak eating contest at a Texas roadhouse, this is the movie for you and you probably need help.
