This by-the-book banality that took a clan
of screenwriters to generate should have
been titled The Prince and Hopefully
Not Me. Baby-faced Julia Stiles stars
as the slumming Ms. Podunk of
Wisconsin. She drives a dusty pickup
truck and aspires to be a top-notch
doctor. However, when the future king of
Denmark (Luke Malby) flees to the United
States in pursuit of his American Dream
of all-night parties with slutty super
models, the hopes of little Ms. Perfect are
flipped upside down. Despite the painful
lack of chemistry, the unlikely couple
decides to follow the predictability of the
overused Cinderella story with
determination. The two fly to Copenhagen
to become the awkward new Danish
monarchy, even though the current king
and queen hold unsurprising
reservations. Stiles cutesy
characteristics and Malbys
rebel-without-a-crown impersonation
arent enough to save director Martha
Coolidges delusion of grandeur in
Hollywood.
