This unholy hybrid of Western and samurai film—with circus freaks thrown in—is remarkable only in that somebody with money thought it was a swell idea to make it. Kate Bosworth and Geoffrey Rush slum in what amounts to nothing but polished trash peppered with the occasional freaky clown. A lone warrior from the East (Dong-gun Jang) comes to an old Western town—with a child in tow—in an attempt to escape a clan war. The town is being harassed by a band of evil cowboys, led by the intolerable Danny Huston. Rush, who was also in this year’s very good The King’s Speech, embarrasses himself and his family as the town drunk. Bosworth, who once had a promising career, needs to avoid Western/samurai films peppered with scary clowns in the future.
