Tokyo Godfathers

I’m not a huge anime fan, so take this in the proper light, but Tokyo Godfathers is one of the most annoying movies I’ve ever walked out of, cartoon or not. For about an hour, I endured the screechy yelling of the three lead characters, a homeless transvestite, his/her "husband" and a 16-year-old girl who’s adopted them as parents. The three of them find an abandoned baby who spends the rest of the film screaming and crying. There is really nothing so pleasant as the incessant cry of a baby, unless it’s the nails-on-a-blackboard wailing of the stereotyped transvestite as s/he bursts into tears at every moment. I guess people in a really uptight culture might think this was funny, but for me, it was more like being thrust into Dante’s seventh circle while being forced to listen to Bobcat Goldthwait get a sex-change operation.

Tokyo Godfathers is not showing in any theaters in the area.
