A celebration of when African-American slaves living in Texas received word they had been freed--two and a half years after the Emancipation Proclamation--takes place from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, June 15; free. Indoor and outdoor activities include a puppe petting zoo, a musical puppet play about Juneteenth, books with a heritage focus, brain puzzles and arts and crafts.
