This is basically a crappy movie, but I kind
of enjoyed it just because Michael Keaton
is so weird to look at that I just want to
hug him until he forgets that he played
Batman. Here, hes an architect married
to a novelist, which are two of the four
professions that are most likely to appear
in a sitcom (the others are advertising
executive and fat guy). When his beloved
wife dies, he finds that shes trying to
contact him by speaking through the
titular white noise thats heard between
TV channels. This could have been an
interesting supernatural thriller, but too
many threads are started without being
finished, creating a meandering and
weak story. Plus, the ad campaign was
all about how dead people really do talk
to us through our TVs, which is, at best,
unlikely. Theres no need to use fake
science to sell a fictional thriller. Maybe if
theyd paid more attention to script and
plotting and less to delusional fantasies,
they could have come up with an
interesting movie. As it is, this is 101
minutes of watching Michael Keaton
watching static on TV. Woohoo!
