Crispin Glover pretty much ruins this
remake of the 1970s film about a boy and
his rats. Glover plays the titular Willard, a
wimpy man whose pointless and lonely
life takes a turn for the terrifying when he
discovers that an army of rats is willing to
do his bidding. The special effects, which
consist exclusively of swarms of rats, are
pretty cool, but Glovers acting is so weird
it takes all the humanity out of his
character. This robs the film of its human
interest, which leaves only rat interest.
Which I guess means that this is the
movie to see if youre a rat, but be kind
and dont gnaw through anyones face
while sitting in the theater. We in the
human populace thank you.
