Zhou Yu's Train

This is the sort of maudlin romance that you’d think would be eschewed in a giant totalitarian state like China. Basically, it’s like the French films of the ’80s: A woman is torn between two men, and travels each week on a train from town to town and metaphor to metaphor. Lots of pretty, gauzy moments and jumping around in time and place give this the sheen of an art film, but it’s little more than a romantic comedy without laughs. In fact, Zhou Yu’s Train is so humorless that it actually makes you miss Adam Sandler and Rob Schneider.

Zhou Yu's Train is not showing in any theaters in the area.
