This plotless wannabe comedy is an outrageously weak retread of better movies like The Incredibles, Sky High and X-Men. A paunchy over-the-hill superhero (Tim Allen) traded in his save-the-day costume for a monkey wrench to waste his days as a car mechanic after the government selfishly turned against him. Of course, years later, a red-eyed villain, cleverly named Concussion, threatens the fate of the world, and the military recruits the out-of-shape has-been to train the future generation of superheroes. For some reason, this training includes spaceship joyrides to Wendys (the obvious first stop). Meanwhile, a geeky and neurotic scientist (Courteney Cox Arquette) sporadically appears for no other reason than to balance out the male-to-female cast ratio. Because of this and countless fart and snot jokes, director Peter Hewitt forces viewers to zoom out the exit doors.
