Listings CONTRA DANCE. The Tucson Friends of Traditional Music present old-time contra dance featuring a live string band from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, July 4, at the Armory Park Recreation Center, 220 S. Fifth Ave. There's an introductory session at 7:45 p.m.; open dance is for singles and couples, beginning to advanced. Admission is $5, $4 for TFTM members. Call 327-1779 for information.
AFRICAN DANCE. Learn the movements of dance from Guinea, Senegal, Nigeria and Afro-Brazilian and Cuban regions with teacher Denise Hawthorne Bey. You'll also learn the intricacies of the music, and the traditional songs and their meanings. Classes meet at 7 p.m. Wednesdays. BALLROOM DANCING. Dance to live music from 8 to 11 p.m. Wednesdays at Let's Dance Club, 6245 E. Bellevue. Singles and couples of all skill levels are welcome. Experience a touch of sophistication and romance with theme-dress occasions and a large, decorated ballroom.
