SALSA COOK-OFF/DANCE PARTY. The Tucson Jazz Society's annual Latin-inspired "Some Like It Hot" dance, salsa-tasting and cook-off event is also the place for the Rumba del Sol CD release party. The CD is a joint recording project by Descarga and the Tucson Latin Jazz Orchestra, also billed as the Orquesta del Sol. Doors open at 7 p.m. Sunday, September 6, with the event running from 8 p.m. to midnight. Tickets are $10, $5 for TJS members, available at the gate only. The Flandrau Science Center hosts this benefit from 7 p.m. until midnight Sunday, September 6, for the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Jerry Lewis Labor Day telethon.
