Dave Devine, with support from the Arizona Humanities Council, presents Traveling Through Tucson: Auto Courts in the '20s and '30s at 2 p.m. Sunday, October 18 in the Wilson Room. Devine discusses mom-and-pop enterprises that sprouted up during the Depression. Joining him is Warren Anderson, an artist whose drawings pay homage to the era. Cost is $2, free to members. 3:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, October 21. It includes a rape and aggression defense class by the Pima College Security Officers, with tips on protection, personal safety, concealed weapons and more.

PERFORMANCE EXPLORATION WORKSHOP. International Art Center. 516 N. Fifth Ave. Theater Z2 announces the formation of an ongoing collaborative inquiry workshop, The Performance Exploration Group, with an informational meeting at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 17. The workshop helps to nurture creativity and is led by Jack Halstead, Ph.D., theater artist, scholar, educator, and founder of two alternative theater companies. The workshop explores expressive art and performance, although no prior experience is required. Although produced by a theater company, this workshop is not primarily a theater workshop. PREHISTORIC WEAVING. UA Arizona State Museum. Archaeologist Lynn Teague presents a short course on Prehistoric Southwestern Textiles from 7 to 9 p.m. October 22 and 29, and on November 5. This event explores the materials, tools, and techniques used by prehistoric Native American weavers and weaving style and design.
